Adam Grundy is Shamal Group Limited’s Chief Financial Officer, with overall responsibility for the company’s finances and that of our projects.
A highly analytical and exceptionally skilled professional, Adam offers broad-based years of experience in the finance and accounting field. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of organisational policies and procedures, local and international policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Adam exhibits superior talents in financial reporting, treasury, cash flow management, ad hoc analyses, and accounts reconciliation, coupled with extensive background in variance analysis, formulating financial statements and interpretation of financial results.
Instrumental in leading and developing relationships with internal and external teams to foster team unity across projects, Adam is skilled in optimising efficiency and improving business processes.

Shailesh Chander is Shamal’s Managing Director of Investments, with overall responsibility for the group’s investments in the education sector. His key focus areas include investments in green-field school projects, acquisitions of schools, turnaround of education assets and integration.
Shailesh comes with over 23 years of experience in the telecommunications, healthcare and education sectors. For over a decade, he has served the education sector in various markets including UAE, China, Singapore and Malaysia and the set-up of international schools. Shailesh has closely experienced Asian markets, building a network of international schools catering to the needs of different market segments. He has played a lead role in building and commissioning five green-field school projects and eight green-field and brown-field healthcare projects.
Shailesh’s core expertise includes feasibility studies, investment evaluation, capital structuring, raising debt & equity in different Asian markets, execution of business plans, managing the end-to-end, turn-key school projects cycle in different geographies, transforming & restructuring school operations.
In his last assignment, Shailesh worked in various positions with GEMS Education including Chief Financial Officer, Director of Business Development and transaction execution for the East Asia region. He also served on the board of GEMS Education Malaysia. Prior to that Shailesh worked with Emaar Properties (Education & Healthcare), Medi Clinic.

Robert Pettifar joins the Shamal Group Limited in 2019 as the Managing Director of Design and Construction, leading the internal Shamal team in addition to managing the relationships and deliverables of our external consultants.
Robert has worked within the property and construction industry for over 30 years. Originally qualifying as a Chartered General Practice Surveyor in London. Over the past 15 years has developed his role within international consultancies managing internal and external multi-disciplinary design teams, delivering complex high-quality learning environments including mainstream and special educational needs projects throughout the UK for both the private and public sectors.
Robert specialises in complex stakeholder management to design and deliver first-class educational facilities appropriate for the advancement of teaching techniques through all age groups and needs. He has been an integral part of client and consultant teams delivering projects from £5m to £130m, developing invaluable experience undertaking option appraisals and feasibility studies, providing professional design and programme advice ensuring the scope of work and costs are successfully aligned and maintained during the early RIBA Stages and maintained through during detailed design procurement and construction.
Robert’s strongest assets are his ability to balance the aspirations of projects with the commercial reality of budgets, timescales, and risk. Robert enthuses project team relationships to develop and create sustainable, diverse and commercially performing projects across all sectors.
Iwan Lloyd is the Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships at Shamal Group Limited, with responsibility for developing current and new projects alongside key members of the Shamal team. His responsibilities also include leading the Education and Research teams within the Company.
Iwan has grown within the Shamal organisation having previously held a Head of Department role, and through this has a thorough understanding of the business and its vision.
Before joining Shamal, Iwan worked within the education sector in Abu Dhabi, where he gained extensive knowledge of the UAE. His role included a senior leadership role within Brighton College, a reputable British International School in Abu Dhabi. This experience has enabled him to understand the needs and nuances of the Middle Eastern educational market and how best to develop and lead critical educational initiatives in the region.
Before moving to the UAE Iwan worked in the UK within a well-respected state school. During this time, he gained a broad understanding of the needs of different age ranges of children. He learnt how to use various strategies and skills to develop children to their full potential. In the UK he also gained experience as a member of the school management team, and as the schools’ Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
Iwan’s greatest strengths are his creativity, drive and leadership skills. He thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand Shamal’s reach within education. Iwan is highly adaptable and can use his core skills across varied and diverse projects. His strong academic background has enabled him to cultivate his critical and logical thinking skills, which he uses to significant advantage within the commercial developments of Shamal.

Rikki Webster is Shamal Group Limited’s Managing Director of Marketing and Brand Development, with overall responsibility for the group’s strategic development as part of the leadership team, including brand partner development and marketing for Shamal and its projects.
Rikki has spent his career helping businesses and brands around the world to communicate their vision and value, delivering powerful messages, with authenticity and passion. In today’s increasingly connected world, in order to not only survive, but thrive on the global stage, brands need to connect and communicate clear value. This is where Rikki excels.
Rikki spent the formative years of his career in London developing a strong skill set in traditional PR and marketing. Grabbing the digital revolution with both hands, he also helped launch and monetise some of the world’s largest online brands into the UK market. Forging his skills at the coalface of the digital media industry, Rikki developed and delivered strategies for some of the world’s foremost businesses, overseeing operations across EMEA and APAC.
In 2016, Rikki launched content marketing and events agency, Remarkable, into the UAE market, making it profitable in its first year of operation by delivering creative marketing campaigns for the likes of Atlantis Resorts, Huda Beauty, M&C Saatchi and NAWAH Energy Company.
As a creative marketer, with the ability to turn initial ideas into fully-fledged brand offerings, Rikki understands the importance of strong marketing and influential communications in the overall success of a project. Being able to convey often complex ideas in a clear, concise and visual way takes experience, and the ability to often distil down an entire project into a single slogan, logo or visual, supported by a robust strategy and implementation plan that creates value for key stakeholders. Having experienced the power of marketing from both sides, as a professional with 15 years of international experience, and as a business owner with budgets to consider, he has a unique and valuable marketing perspective to offer Shamal’s clients.

Tamara Kostic is Shamal Group Limited’s Head of Design, with overall responsibility for the concept, schematic and detailed design phases of all projects.
An Architect with 16+ years’ of experience with different project typologies of complex, large scale and fast track nature. Offering strong knowledge of the different stages of architecture and design development (Pre-concept to Detailed Design); Tamara has developed a diverse portfolio of projects mainly in residential, hospitality, education and mixed-use buildings.
As Head of Design, Tamara leads and monitors the design team and sub-consultants’ performance in the conduct of design, according to the established packaging strategy, including programming, costs, standards, codes and design coordination activities.

Melissa Mac Bean
Melissa Mac Bean is Shamal Group Limited’s Project Manager to support with Shamal’s multiple projects.
A well-seasoned Supply Chain, Project Management & Management Accounting Professional, Melissa has a background in Transformation & Change Management, Operational Excellence and Business Process Reengineering & ERP Implementation, with a proven track record in supporting change in operational functions, organizational mergers, integration, and business process reengineering and optimisation.
Melissa has developed and implemented transformational strategies that provide a route map for service change, providing senior-level advice using technical expertise and informed judgment to deliver successful outcomes.
With more than a decade of experience in the UAE, both in BFSI (Banking and Financial Services Industry at First Abu Dhabi Bank) as well as the Abu Dhabi Government (working for twofour54 Media Zone Authority), Melissa has the background and experience to handle any project presented to her.

Jemma Williams is the Human Resources (HR) Manager for Shamal Group Limited, with overall responsibility for the HR activities across both Shamal and its projects.
A Masters-qualified, Chartered Member of the Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Jemma started her HR career in the UK, working for construction giants Balfour Beatty. She subsequently gained experience in the Retail and Shipping industries before joining Shamal in March 2018. Jemma relocated to the United Arab Emirates In November 2016 and has spent significant time understanding how best to support the needs and intricacies of a Middle Eastern-based workforce.
A results driven individual with a passion for understanding and acting on both management and employee needs, Jemma recognises that regardless of location, the HR function must balance the needs of any and all stakeholders, striving to meet short-term financial goals, whilst keeping focus on long-term organisational health, people and performance. Jemma is a true HR generalist with experience in the creation and delivery of HR strategy, recruitment and retention, change management, performance management, reward and benefits and overall employee relations.

Salin Subran is Shamal Group Limited’s Information Technology Manager, responsible for providing IT support for overall IT function including Infrastructure, Applications and Projects.
Salin is a CCIE Certified Engineering graduate with 9 years of experience working with different Multi-national Companies including Servcorp, European Union Delegation, Etihad Airways, Bank of Montreal, Northern Trust, Maersk Oil Middle East etc. During his career in UAE, he took several certifications in Cisco and Microsoft courses and also involved in setting up IT Infrastructure for Servcorp in Iran, Brussels, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. He is expertise in various areas including homogeneous and heterogeneous network environments and possess an in-depth knowledge in both Network and Server operating systems. He is also highly passionate about job responsibilities and cope well with high-stress situations, managing a variety of projects simultaneously.

Claire Harrison is Executive Assistant to Shamal Group Limited’s Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.
Claire has spent 12+ years working for Board members & C-level executives in top global companies. She is highly regarded for her professionalism, communication, judgment, and integrity and has exceptional organisational and people management skills. She previously worked for the CEO of NBAD as his personal assistant, before the merger. She has worked in London, Abu Dhabi and Australia.
Claire assists with vendor management, scheduling, event oversight, meeting, and travel support, business correspondence, transcribing and presentation development plus a multitude of other tasks. A very reliable pair of hands, with the diplomacy and judgment to deliver difficult tasks in today’s modern & challenging business environment.

Kieran Breslin is a Special Education Needs (SEN) Specialist at Shamal Group Limited, with responsibility for SEN educational projects within the group.
Kieran has over 10 years’ experience in Education both as a lead PE and SEN teacher. Before joining Shamal, Kieran worked within the education sector in Abu Dhabi where he gained excellent knowledge and experience of the UAE system. His role included a senior leadership role as Head of Inclusion in Reach British International School in Abu Dhabi. This experience has enabled him to understand the Middle Eastern educational system and how best to develop and lead critical special educational needs initiatives in the region.
Before moving to the UAE Kieran has worked in the UK and Ireland within the private and public school systems. He has extensive experience in SEN through both his qualifications including a Masters in SEN and three years in a senior management role as the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. During this time, he gained a further knowledge and understanding of the various needs across a diverse range of children. He learnt how to use various strategies and skills to develop children to their full educational potential.
Kieran’s greatest strengths are his passion, commitment and knowledge in SEN; striving for educational excellence. He prides himself on being conscientious and good humoured, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Francesca Cross is an Education Specialist at Shamal Group Limited and is responsible for providing extensive educational support for both Mainstream and SEN-related Educational Projects within the group.
Prior to joining Shamal, Francesca graduated from Durham University, UK with a degree in Modern Languages and Cultures, specialising in French and Arabic. As a linguist and language enthusiast, upon graduating, Francesca completed the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and has had the privilege of designing and delivering bespoke EAL courses to government clients, notably Emiratis, across the United Arab Emirates, igniting her passion for Education. Francesca has lived most of her life between the UK and the UAE, and therefore has extensive knowledge of the local market, language, customs and traditions and is able to incorporate this into our current projects located within the UAE.
Francesca is a conscientious worker, utilising her local knowledge, outstanding interpersonal skills and work ethic to assist in the delivery process of all projects and to ensure that project decisions are well-researched and based on actionable insight, to ensure optimal outcomes.

Mark Evans is Shamal Group Limited’s Graphic Designer, responsible for the Shamal brand as well as assisting and delivering design for the marketing of Shamal’s client projects.
From printed advertising, logo design, web design, stationary, mock-ups, animation and promotional video, Mark has been delivering top end design as well as marketing concepts, strategies and solutions for small, medium and large businesses across the globe for over a decade. Some of Mark’s previous clients include Starbucks UK, Denny’s, Honeywell, Subway, Pizza Hut and Nexus Energy.
Mark also specialises in online marketing which has helped drive new business from online strategies for start-ups and traditional bricks and mortar businesses allowing them to thrive with the power of search engine optimisation, conversion strategies and analytical data.
Marketing and design go hand in hand and this is something that Mark clearly displays when approaching a new project. By asking the right questions at the start, this helps with accurate delivery of client expectations and demands. Communication is one of the keys to the successful design and delivery of project marketing campaigns at Shamal.

Liza Marie is Shamal Group Limited’s Document Controller, with overall responsibility for ensuring all processes and decisions relating to the company and its projects are well documented.
The development of Yas Island, the UAE’s world famous and multi-purpose entertainment, shopping and leisure destination, paved the way for Liza Marie’s career as a Document Controller. Experience is always appreciated in any job hiring, however, her skills, attitude and personal qualities became apparent early on. Her strong verbal/written communication skills, quality mindset, patience, attention to detail and pro-active nature made her stand out among her peers.
For the past 10 years, Liza’s experiences working directly and indirectly in Yas Island on-going development, exposed her to a variety of practices, tools and challenges. Working in different environments formalised her existing knowledge and deepened her competences. Her specialisation is not only about filing, numbering, sorting and retrieving documents electronically or in hard copy; she ensures that this is done in a timely, accurate and efficient manner for regulatory and legal compliance.
Along the way in Liza’s career, she has honed her interpersonal skills and sharpened her communication efficiency, which generates great value when dealing with internal and external partners.

Grace Masiglat is Shamal’s HR & Recruitment Officer, with the responsibility of providing overall support across all HR functions of the group.
In 2013, Grace graduated from De La Salle University, Philippines with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She is now pursuing a certification in HR Practice, and is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Before joining Shamal, Grace worked with Abu Dhabi-based developer, Bloom Holding, as HR Business Partner. Her experience at Bloom has enabled her to demonstrate excellence in people practice by supporting the delivery of HR solutions.
Grace provides specialist support in designing and implementing strategic initiatives in line with Shamal’s overall corporate strategy. Also overseeing end-to-end recruitment process while ensuring best selection of talent, Grace positively contributes to Shamal’s corporate objectives, by delivering the best HR service through Resourcing Talent, Employee Engagement, Learning and Development, Rewards and Benefits, and Corporate Governance.

Anitha Jacob Maxy
Anitha Jacob Maxy plays a key role as one of Shamal’s Administrators, with the responsibility of supporting the Chief of Staff and various daily office operational tasks.
Before joining Shamal Group, Anitha employed by various hospital divisions across Abu Dhabi in administrative and operational roles. She is a skilled, determined, confident and well-organized administrator with extensive experience in supporting mid to senior-level managers including C-level and Board of Directors by providing them consistent administrative support.
Anitha is a highly approachable individual, who has a can-do attitude and determination to bring out a positive change.
